Here is some visual evidence of one of my top five favorite weekends on earth. Full of new and old friends, oysters, fishing, more oysters, swimming, delivering oysters to Farmer Joe, dinner, corn, blockhead, more oysters and a kind of sad already-nostalgic car ride back to the city. Parental eyeball advisory: the below eel murder video is of an actual eel murder. It seems an eel was a baby when he fell down the rabbit hole into one of the many oyster cages off the dock and by the time we opened the cage, he was a full grown eel man, ready to come out of captivity and unfortunately go straight to our dinner table. He squirmed a bit when we salted and lemoned him up before hitting the grill. It was an odd sight but could also have been his way of saying byebye to his own life off the dock with the oysters. This is my way of saying byebye but also hello to a new found appreciation for good people and an abundance of oysters.

i think they have a newer album that i never listened to, but i revisited this one recently and this song is still a stand-out. it's a cacophony of noises and all the instruments have a sense of urgency. i don't know what the lyrics are about overall, but there's all these little segments that feel true and not corny.

3. terius nash - used to be
few depict relationships as candidly as terius nash, aka the-dream. this song embodies the most broken dream. featuring the outstanding vulgar homonym: 'stop ---- with me, if you ain't --- with me.'

4. sister nancy - ain't no stopping sister nancy
lol sister nancy. no stopping you.

5. sleep over - romantic streams (balam acab remix)
two noteworthy artists converging sounds. i really like where this goes at the end (starting at 3:25). it gets all whimsical.

6. d'eon - nothing else i can say
pop from montreal. you're in a cool video game with dancing. apparently this is a cover of a lady gaga song called 'eh, eh, nothing else i can say.'

I'm usually a night showerer but this morning I woke up and took a shower. Then I went back to my bed and watched the above episode of Orson's Farm. Then I went back to the bathroom and threw up. Then I washed my face and went back to my room to put on deodorant. My brother's photoshoot with Animal went very well last night. Animal was feeling fresh and super excited to get back on the drums.

He played some jams with headphones on at first just to get his rhythm right.

Then Animal was like 'fuck it' and got super wild with his headphones off. He thought it could make for a better and more realistic picture. Animal don't need headphones.

Sometimes Animal got a little distracted by the family photos behind him, but he quickly learned to simply focus on looking sweet and drumming, or just chilling on the drum seat like a severe badass. In the end, we got the shot.

Last week I went with my most favorite lady Emma upstate to Rosendale NY to visit her mama and dog. Her dog Dewey was living with her mom for the past 7 months while she was globe trotting. I put together a lil vid for Free Spirit's "O'Dela" from footage I shot during a trip to Japan 4 years ago with my mama. You see that beautiful-looking tree? Yeah, it's beautiful. Way back in late May we went to see Real Estate, Julian Lynch, Family Portrait and Big Troubles play at The Bell House. And by we I mean me and all the other people who also went to this show. It was definitely a family affair in there. Real Estate were the dads, Julian was probs the mom, Family Portrait were the cute sisters and Big Troubles were the little brothers like Stand By Me style or those Tree Of Life bros. RESPECTIVELY, of course. I was kinda the adopted evil stepchild lingering on the side of the stage filming the dads play what will soon become one of my favorites from the new album. And I said, this is good. I synched up nyctaper's recorded audio to this vid so that's why it sounds pretty awesome, yup. Nyctaper was the cool uncle.

Back in 1984, my brother went to see 2010: The Year we Make Contact and he got this sweet shirt that you see above. A year later I was born, and he must have looked at me being a baby and stuff and thought "someday, I will give her this shirt, yes I will." Well, 26 years later and probably after much deliberation between my brother and the rest of t-shirt collection, the shirt is mine. 2011 is the best year ever now! Also may I add that I have never seen this flick, have you? We should probably watch it now that I have been fully supporting it EVERY SINGLE DAY since I got this shirt. I'm such a poser. But simply nothing is better than the feeling I get when I pop this bad boy on over my head. And then I take it off from the bottom and not from the neck, as requested by my brother.

This is an amazing photo of my dad and his younger sister standing outside their dad Lloyd's furniture shop in Memphis. My dad and his two sisters recently spoke at the Newseum in DC on their respective experiences growing up in the South during the Civil Rights movement. Read the article in the Washington Post about it all. My dad scanned this picture in to be printed in this article in the newspaper. I'm proud of him for not only knowing how to scan a photo but for all the other amazing things he's done in his life too :)
